Frequently Asked Questions
There are days that I can’t really wrap my head around the fact that not only I have this blog but I am so very and incredibly fortunate to have so many of you who enjoy reading it. I began this blog as an outlet for creative writing and cooking never imagining that three years later it would keep on growing and provide a helpful hand in so many readers’ kitchens. Having this blog has also provided many fantastic conversations with family members, friends, friends of friends and brought many new friendships that I truly enjoy.
As MPK has grown, so has the amount of emails that I receive from the readers. I do love receiving emails, but truth be told, sometimes it’s hard to keep up with them. There are certain questions that I am asked very frequently and some that are super random. Here is a collection of the questions that I frequently receive:
Q:Where did you buy your Samavar? I want one just like yours!
A:Â I bought my Samavar from a lady who was selling her belongings in light of having to move to a smaller place. She had purchased this Samavar probably 50 or 60 years ago from Iran. I was simply there at the right place at the right time. Perhaps you may want to check online to see where you can find them. Look for Persian stores in your area or vicinity.
Q:Â I have an old Samavar that I’d like to sell. Where can I sell it? Can you sell it for me? Can you help me?
A: I can’t sell the Samavars for you, however, you can try selling them on eBay or any other website where people can purchase items from.
Q: What is the name and model of your stovetop Samavar and where can I find one?
A:Â Â My stovetop Samavar is an Alpine Cuisine kettle model A1-4100. I purchased it 4 years ago from Crown Valley Market. Alpine Cuisine products are often carried by Persian stores. You may want to call your local store and see if they have anything like it. Otherwise, you may want to do a search online to see if you can find one.
Q:Â Can you please identify these samovars, and tell me what you know about them? What do I do with them?
A: Sorry to disappoint but I am not a Samavar connoisseur. I only know how to use them!
Q:Â Where do I buy a Persian Rice Cooker? Which model do you recommend?
A:Â Â Persian rice cookers can be purchased from Persian stores or online. I am only familiar with the brand that I have which is Royal Cook. I have had it for about 8 years and still works perfectly. You may want to do an internet search and see where you can purchase one if you don’t have Persian stores in your area. There are many online stores that sell them.
Q: There are no directions on the box of the Persian Rice Cooker on  how to use it. What do I do?
A: I wrote a whole post about how to make rice in a Rice Cooker and you can find it by clicking here.
Q:Â Can I make mixed rice in a rice cooker?
A: You sure can! I have posted this recipe which you can use as a guide.
Q:Â I don’t have a Persian store near me. Where can I buy Persian ingredients? Can you buy and send them to me?
A: I do not have an online store where I sell Persian items. However, you can do an online search for the items that you are looking for. There are several online stores that sell Persian ingredients including Amazon.
Q: Do you have a recipe for X, Y, Z…?
A: I have published many recipes in the past few years, feel free to search the “Â Search My Persian Kitchen.” You’ll find what you are searching for right away. If I don’t have a recipe for it, feel free to email me your request for it. Â Just follow the right arrow in the picture below to see where the search box is located on the top right hand corner of the website.
